LSI, une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les contr\u00f4leurs pour les disques durs, vient d’annoncer une nouvelle puce compatible avec la norme SAS 6 gigabits\/s. Le SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) est le pendant professionnel du SATA, qui remplace le SCSI dans les serveurs. Rappelons que les disques SATA classiques peuvent fonctionner sur un contr\u00f4leur SAS (le connecteur est le m\u00eame) mais que l’inverse n’est \u00e9videmment pas possible.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6 gigabits\/s et 1 000 000 d’IOPS<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n

La nouvelle puce LSISAS2108 prend donc en charge le SAS 6 gigabits\/s (600 Mo\/s, le codage \u00e9tant effectu\u00e9 sur 10 bits) et prend en charge le RAID. Dans une d\u00e9monstration, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 atteindre 1 000 000 d’IOPS (entr\u00e9es\/sorties par secondes) avec un ensemble RAID compos\u00e9 de douze disques durs SAS au format 2,5 pouces (mod\u00e8les qui a priori tournaient \u00e0 15 000 tpm). Avec cette nouvelle norme, les disques durs et surtout les SSD ne seront plus limit\u00e9s par la bande passante de l’interface, comme c’est le cas actuellement. Notons que le SATA, utilis\u00e9 dans les PC destin\u00e9s au grand public et dans certains serveurs, se limite actuellement \u00e0 3 gigabits\/s mais que la version 6 gigabits\/s devrait \u00eatre disponible avant la fin de l’ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
