Petite s\u00e9quence nostalgeek<\/strong> : un PC de joueur, en 1995, c\u2019\u00e9tait quoi ? Une vid\u00e9o tourn\u00e9e avec un d\u00e9veloppeur de chez Activision vous l\u2019explique.

La machine, de marque NEC<\/strong>, vaut 3 000 $ (4 300 $ en 2011) et la premi\u00e8re image montre un p\u00e9riph\u00e9rique atypique actuellement : un lecteur de disquettes<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Le processeur est un Pentium cadenc\u00e9 \u00e0 133 MHz<\/strong>. La machine propose un lecteur de CD 6x<\/strong> (900 ko\/s) et un disque dur de 1,6 Go<\/strong>. L\u2019ordinateur int\u00e8gre un d\u00e9codeur d\u00e9di\u00e9 au format MPEG<\/strong> (le premier, celui des Video-CD et sa qualit\u00e9 VHS) et est livr\u00e9e avec des enceintes de 44 W. On retrouve bien \u00e9videmment les accessoires beiges et le classique microphone en forme de tige de l\u2019\u00e9poque.

Le jeu pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 est Mechwarrior 2<\/strong>, un best-seller de l\u2019\u00e9poque. Le jeu est en \u00ab 3D \u00bb mais la qualit\u00e9 est \u00e9videmment bien loin de ce que l\u2019on trouve actuellement.

Point int\u00e9ressant du jeu, il \u00e9tait possible de jouer \u00e0 plusieurs, soit sur un r\u00e9seau local, soit de modem \u00e0 modem. Bien \u00e9videmment, en 1995, la facture \u00e9tait sal\u00e9e : une communication t\u00e9l\u00e9phonique \u00e9tait active entre les deux ordinateurs. Pour les personnes ne poss\u00e9dant pas de carte r\u00e9seau (c\u2019\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s rare \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque), un c\u00e2ble null modem \u00e9tait une solution int\u00e9ressante : il \u00e9tait possible de communiquer entre deux ordinateurs en utilisant la prise RS-232 (s\u00e9rie), avec des d\u00e9bits \u00e9videmment tr\u00e8s faibles.

Notons enfin que la configuration minimale pour le jeu \u00e9tait un processeur 486 \u00e0 66 MHz, mais qu\u2019un Pentium \u00e9tait pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
