Sur le papier, le Samsung 850 EVO 4 To a tout pour plaire\u00a0: des d\u00e9bits s\u00e9quentiels de 540 Mo\/s en lecture et 530 Mo\/s en \u00e9criture, des performances al\u00e9atoires 4K culminant \u00e0 98\u00a0000 IOPS en lecture et 90\u00a0000 IOPS en \u00e9criture, et une capacit\u00e9 de stockage rivalisant avec de nombreux disques durs sur le march\u00e9. Notre laboratoire aux Etats-Unis a pu se procurer ce nouveau mod\u00e8le de SSD<\/a>, voici ce qu\u2019il faut en retenir.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

De la V-NAND 3D \u00e0 48 couches pour de hautes performances<\/h3>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

\"Image<\/span><\/span>La nouvelle m\u00e9moire V-NAND 3D \u00e0 48 couches<\/strong> de Samsung utilis\u00e9e par ce SSD permet au constructeur de placer 256Gbit dans un seul die. Chacune des 8 puces de m\u00e9moire NAND regroupant 16 dies (soit 512 Go), on atteint donc une capacit\u00e9 globale de 4 To. Samsung n\u2019a pas oubli\u00e9 de r\u00e9server une partie de la m\u00e9moire flash \u00e0 l\u2019overprovisioning\u00a0: 96 GiB sont ainsi d\u00e9di\u00e9s aux op\u00e9rations internes du SSD (wear leveling, garbage collection). 46 Go sont \u00e9galement d\u00e9di\u00e9s \u00e0 la technologie TurboWrite<\/strong>, qui permet d\u2019utiliser une partie de la m\u00e9moire flash TLC comme un cache de m\u00e9moire SLC, am\u00e9liorant au passage les performances du SSD. Notons \u00e9galement que cette version 4 To utilise le m\u00eame contr\u00f4leur MHX que le 850 EVO 2 To.<\/p>\n\n

Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des performances pratiques, notre laboratoire a pu mesurer des d\u00e9bits s\u00e9quentiels de 544 Mo\/s en lecture, avec seulement deux commandes en file d\u2019attente comme l\u2019on peut trouver en situation r\u00e9elle d\u2019utilisation. En \u00e9criture s\u00e9quentielle, toujours avec une longueur r\u00e9duite de file d\u2019attente de commandes (QD2), le 850 EVO 4 To atteint 521 Mo\/s. Les performances en \u00e9criture sont par ailleurs stables<\/strong> gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019un important cache \u00ab\u00a0SLC\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n

Les performances en acc\u00e8s al\u00e9atoires 4K sont du m\u00eame ordre puisqu\u2019on d\u00e9passe 23\u00a0000 IOPS en lecture avec une longueur de queue de commandes de seulement 2, et presque 64\u00a0000 IOPS en \u00e9criture al\u00e9atoire dans les m\u00eames conditions. Une nouvelle fois, ces tr\u00e8s bonnes performances sont obtenues gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la technologie TurboWrite<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

S\u2019il fallait vraiment trouver un d\u00e9faut au 850 EVO 4 To, ce serait peut \u00eatre du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l\u2019endurance\u00a0: Samsung ne garantit en effet ce mod\u00e8le que pour un total de 300 To \u00e9crits<\/strong>, ce qui repr\u00e9sente \u00ab\u00a0seulement\u00a0\u00bb 75 \u00e9critures totales du SSD. Il ne s\u2019agit toutefois que d\u2019une valeur th\u00e9orique, et de nombreux tests ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9s que la m\u00e9moire V-NAND supportait bien plus d\u2019\u00e9critures que la valeur garantie. En r\u00e9sum\u00e9, le Samsung 850 EVO 4 To est un tr\u00e8s bon mod\u00e8le que nous pouvons sans crainte vous conseiller d\u2019acheter, si par bonheur vous trouvez les 1500 euros n\u00e9cessaires cach\u00e9s au fond de votre portefeuille.<\/p>\n\n
