D\u00e9voil\u00e9 par le patron de NVIDIA Jen-Hsun Huang lors de la GDC 2017, le nouveau monstre de NVIDIA peut d\u00e9sormais \u00eatre expos\u00e9 dans tous ses d\u00e9tails. Les tests de performance arriveront dans quelques jours. La carte a autant d’unit\u00e9s CUDA que la TITAN X, mais elle tourne plus rapidement. La nouvelle \"Image<\/span><\/span><\/strong>GeForce GTX 1080 Ti est ainsi vendue 824 euros en France (699 dollars aux \u00c9tats-Unis). Certes, c’est cher, mais d\u00e9j\u00e0 beaucoup moins que la TITAN X \u00e0 1359 euros !<\/p>\n

Cet article n’est pas seulement un unboxing de la carte que nous avons re\u00e7ue en test, c’est aussi un d\u00e9montage complet de son dissipateur, pour mieux analyser son refroidissement, et les composants de son PCB. Notez que nous avons d\u00e9j\u00e0 effectu\u00e9 tous nos tests avec cette carte dans sa configuration d’usine, le d\u00e9montage s’est fait ensuite. Dernier d\u00e9tail : nos r\u00e9sultats de tests arrivent tr\u00e8s bient\u00f4t !<\/p>\n

Caract\u00e9ristiques compar\u00e9es :<\/h3>\n

\"Image<\/span><\/span>Comme on peut le voir sur l’image ci-contre, le GPU de la 1080 Ti est estampill\u00e9 GP102-350. Cette nouvelle puce est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement modifi\u00e9e : elle int\u00e8gre autant d’unit\u00e9s de traitement que la TITAN X, mais poss\u00e8de 8 ROP de moins. Du coup, le pixel fillrate est un peu moins \u00e9lev\u00e9. Mais elle gagne sur le reste, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses fr\u00e9quences GPU sup\u00e9rieures. Idem pour la m\u00e9moire : la largeur du bus est moins importante, mais le gain en fr\u00e9quence apporte une bande passante finalement sup\u00e9rieure. Tout \u00e7a pour le m\u00eame TDP, et surtout pour 535 euros de moins !<\/p>\n

Pr\u00e9sentation de la carte<\/h3>\n

NVIDIA affirme que la GTX 1080 Ti b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d’un tout nouveau dissipateur am\u00e9lior\u00e9, mais, selon nous, il est totalement identique \u00e0 celui de la TITAN X. La seule diff\u00e9rence se situe dans les pads thermiques, plus nombreux. Le ventilateur radial garde un diam\u00e8tre de 6,2 cm.<\/p>\n

La carte fait donc les m\u00eames dimensions : 26,9 cm de long, 10,5 cm de large et 3,5 cm d’\u00e9paisseur, pour un poids total de 1039 grammes.<\/p>\n

On retrouve des connecteurs d’alimentation 8+6 broches au sommet de la carte.<\/p>\n

Sans port DVI, la carte profite d’une meilleure ouverture de l’\u00e9querre PCI pour mieux \u00e9vacuer l’air chaud pouss\u00e9 par le ventilateur radial.<\/p>\n

D\u00e9montage du dissipateur

NVIDIA utilise une plaque arri\u00e8re en deux parties pour sa carte graphique. On remarque la pr\u00e9sence d’un pad thermique en contact avec le contr\u00f4leur PWM, pour une meilleure dissipation de chaleur gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la backplate.<\/p>\n

Une fine couche de plastique isolant reste coll\u00e9e sur la plaque arri\u00e8re, mais le film est \u00e9videmment coup\u00e9 \u00e0 l’endroit du pad thermique.<\/p>\n

La pr\u00e9sence du contr\u00f4leur PWM \u00e0 l’arri\u00e8re du PCB est un premier changement visible. Mais notez aussi l’arriv\u00e9e d’indications imprim\u00e9es sur le PCB, pour renseigner les fabricants sur l’emplacement des pads thermiques \u00e0 placer \u00e0 l’arri\u00e8re du PCB afin d’aider au refroidissement de l’\u00e9tage d’alimentation gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une plaque arri\u00e8re. Une \u00e9volution que l’on conseille depuis longtemps ! Sur cette Founders Edition, ces emplacements sont toutefois vides, sans pad thermique.<\/p>\n

La plaque de dissipation avant est beaucoup plus fournie en pads thermiques pour toucher le moindre composant producteur de chaleur. NVIDIA en a coll\u00e9 un maximum pour am\u00e9liorer la dissipation globale de sa carte graphique.<\/p>\n

Le dissipateur GPU est, en lui-m\u00eame, identique aux pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents : un bloc (la chambre \u00e0 vapeur) maintenu par 4 vis, et surmont\u00e9 par de nombreuses ailettes de dissipations align\u00e9es sur la sortie d’air chaud de l’\u00e9querre PCI.<\/p>\n

Analyse du PCB
<\/h3>\n

Le PCB est identique \u00e0 celui de la TITAN X, mais pas ses composants. L’\u00e9tage d’alimentation a notamment \u00e9t\u00e9 reconfigur\u00e9. <\/p>\n

\"Image<\/span><\/span>La m\u00e9moire vive est compos\u00e9e de 11 modules GDDR5X sign\u00e9s Micron, des MT58K256M321-Ja110 \u00e0 5500 MHz qui offrent jusqu’\u00e0 11 Go\/s de bande passante. NVIDIA aurait pu installer des MT58K256M321-Ja110 qui montent encore plus haut en fr\u00e9quence, mais leur temp\u00e9rature aurait certainement \u00e9t\u00e9 plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e avec une alimentation \u00e0 1,35 V. Ces puces peuvent monter jusqu’\u00e0 95\u00b0C, selon Micron.<\/p>\n

NVIDIA reste sur le m\u00eame contr\u00f4leur uP9511 pour les sept phases d’alimentation du GPU (il peut en g\u00e9rer jusqu’\u00e0 8).<\/p>\n

La conception de la conversion de tension est int\u00e9ressante, car elle est relativement simple : un seul convertisseur LM53603 se charge du high side<\/em> et non pas un, mais deux MOSFET Fairchild D424 Canal N g\u00e8re le low side<\/em>. Cette configuration permet d’\u00e9taler les points de chaleur sur une surface de dissipation deux fois plus grande.<\/p>\n

NVIDIA utilise des bobines en ferrite encapsul\u00e9e assez simples, qui sont de qualit\u00e9 similaire \u00e0 celles des Magic Chokes de Foxconn. Elles peuvent \u00eatre install\u00e9es par des machines, et pas \u00e0 la main. D’un c\u00f4t\u00e9 thermique, l’arri\u00e8re du PCB laisse une bonne place pour la dissipation thermique de ces composants, m\u00eame si nous sommes \u00e9tonn\u00e9s que cette carte Founders Edition ne propose pas de pad thermique d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 ces bobines pour la plaque arri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

La m\u00e9moire est aliment\u00e9e par deux phases, command\u00e9es par un contr\u00f4leur uP168. Un convertisseur FD424 se charge du high side<\/em> et deux MOSFET Logic Level PowerTrench E6930 \u00e0 double canal N g\u00e8rent le low side<\/em> en parall\u00e8le. C’est assez inhabituel. Les bobines sont plus petites, car ces deux phases sont moins complexes.<\/p>\n

Conclusion

Il n’est pas question de nouveau dissipateur ici. On parlera plut\u00f4t d’une dissipation revue ou juste am\u00e9lior\u00e9e, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des composants retouch\u00e9s et \u00e0 l’ajout de nombreux pads thermiques. Nous ne pouvons encore pas fournir de r\u00e9sultats de test, mais le dissipateur, en lui-m\u00eame, est identique, et ne devrait donc pas r\u00e9volutionner le genre.<\/p>\n
