\"ImageOptane M.2<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Intel lance le premier support M.2 Optane embarquant sa m\u00e9moire 3D XPoint<\/strong>. Sa capacit\u00e9 est limit\u00e9e \u00e0 16 Go ou 32 Go, et le contr\u00f4leur est relativement simple puisqu\u2019il ne dispose pas de DRAM externe, et ne serait reli\u00e9 aux modules qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un seul canal, ce qui expliquerait pourquoi les performances sont identiques pour les deux capacit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Un cache avant tout<\/h4>\n

\"Image<\/span><\/span>Contrairement au P4800, annonc\u00e9 la semaine derni\u00e8re, ciblant les entreprises, l\u2019Optane M.2 est destin\u00e9 aux consommateurs oblig\u00e9s d\u2019utiliser des disques durs, et qui souhaitent tout de m\u00eame profiter d\u2019un niveau de performances similaires \u00e0 celui des SSD.<\/strong>\u00a0Le support est vou\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre un cache pour le volume de d\u00e9marrage abritant le syst\u00e8me d\u2019exploitation. Il faudra donc utiliser le Rapid Storage Technology (RST) d\u2019Intel, passer obligatoirement par Windows 10 64 bit, et mettre le contr\u00f4leur de sa carte m\u00e8re en mode RAID au lieu du mode AHCI. L\u2019Optane M.2 ne sera donc pas disponible sous la forme d\u2019un volume NVMe traditionnel.<\/p>\n

Port\u00e9e limit\u00e9e<\/h4>\n

La solution s\u2019adresse \u00e0 un march\u00e9 de niche ne pouvant pas acheter un SSD classique, et disposant d\u2019une plateforme Kaby Lake<\/strong>. En effet, m\u00eame si Optane M.2 peut fonctionner sur un chipset series 100, comme nous l\u2019expliquions en d\u00e9but d\u2019ann\u00e9e, Intel requiert l\u2019utilisation d\u2019un chipset series 200 et d\u2019un BIOS compatible RST<\/strong>. Les performances sont int\u00e9ressantes sachant que le module n\u2019utilise qu\u2019une ou deux puces de m\u00e9moire. Les temps de latence sont tr\u00e8s faibles, les d\u00e9bits soutenus, et l\u2019endurance est nettement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que sur un SSD traditionnel<\/strong>. Les Optane M.2 seront disponibles \u00e0 partir du 24 avril prochain au prix de 44 dollars pour les 16 Go, contre 77 dollars pour les 32 Go.<\/p>\n
