En ao\u00fbt, Intel lan\u00e7ait officiellement ses processeurs Ice Lake pour les ultrabooks. Depuis, on attend d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9ment leurs homologues pour PC de bureau. Hier, des rumeurs ont sugg\u00e9r\u00e9 que ceux-l\u00e0 n\u2019arriveraient peut-\u00eatre jamais et qu’Intel se concentrerait uniquement sur les puces en 14 nm pour cette gamme de produits jusqu’en 2022, date \u00e0 laquelle la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 passerait directement au 7 nm. Une information reprise par plusieurs sites mais d\u00e9mentie par Intel.

En effet, l’entreprise a r\u00e9fut\u00e9 ces propos aupr\u00e8s de nos confr\u00e8res de Tom’s Hardware US. Selon elle, les processeurs de bureau en 10 nm font toujours partie de ses plans : “Nous continuons \u00e0 faire de grands progr\u00e8s sur 10 nm, et notre feuille de route actuelle de produits 10 nm inclut les ordinateurs de bureau”<\/em>.

Pour revenir aux origines de cette histoire, c’est Hardwareluxx<\/a> qui a lanc\u00e9 cette rumeur. Celle-ci stipulait qu’Intel renon\u00e7ait \u00e0 plusieurs familles de puces en 10 nm. Le site pr\u00e9cisait qu’en raison d’une capacit\u00e9 de production insuffisante, l’entreprise sacrifiait les processeurs Tiger Lake-S<\/a> et Alder Lake.

Toujours selon Hardwareluxx, Intel devait donc miser exclusivement sur les processeurs en 14 nm jusqu\u2019en 2022 pour les PC de bureau puis passer directement au 7 nm. Une suggestion qui semblait corrobor\u00e9e par les faits, puisque tout r\u00e9cemment, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a stopp\u00e9 la production de presque tous les processeurs Core 6000 et 7000 afin de r\u00e9duire l\u2019occupation de ses lignes de production en 14 nm en faveur des derniers mod\u00e8les. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans son message adress\u00e9 \u00e0 Tom’s Hardware US<\/a>, Intel sous-entend bien que les puces en 14 nm devraient perdurer jusqu’en 2021. De toute mani\u00e8re, deux autres familles de processeurs en 14 nm sont attendues en 2020 et 2021, les Comet Lake-S et Rocket Lake-S respectivement. Mais Intel tient \u00e0 pr\u00e9ciser que des processeurs en 10 nm pour PC de bureau verront bien le jour… en 2021 !
