Alors que l’\u00e9crasante majorit\u00e9 des processeurs du march\u00e9 sont con\u00e7us et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s aux Etats-Unis, de nombreux pays commencent \u00e0 travailler \u00e0 leurs propres solutions, tant pour r\u00e9duire leur d\u00e9pendance technologique que pour s’abstraire des \u00e9ventuels risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 des vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9s \u2026 ou \u00e0 “des r\u00e8gles de fonctionnement non-document\u00e9es, avec des microprogrammes chiffr\u00e9s”, comme le justifiait le MCST (Moscow Center of SPARC Technologies<\/em>), derri\u00e8re un projet de CPU Elbrus \u00e0 32 c\u0153urs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Chine a \u00e9galement lanc\u00e9 plusieurs projets<\/a> du m\u00eame type, soutenus par des budgets \u00e9tatiques. L’Union europ\u00e9enne alimente aussi, depuis juin 2019, un projet de processeur ind\u00e9pendant<\/a>, l’EPI (European Processeur Initiative<\/em>), destin\u00e9 quant \u00e0 lui au calcul hautes performances et aux supercalculateurs exaflopiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’enjeu : soutenir un parc de 60 000 machines gouvernementales<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La Russie l\u00e8ve aujourd’hui le voile sur un nouveau projet de ce type, orchestr\u00e9 par Rostec, une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d’Etat \u00e0 la t\u00eate d’un conglom\u00e9rat, qui investit dans une large diversit\u00e9 de technologies pour les secteurs civils et militaires. En partenariat avec d’autres acteurs russes, Yadro qui se sp\u00e9cialise dans les serveurs, et Syntacore qui con\u00e7oit des puces, Rostec planche sur une s\u00e9rie de processeurs RISC-V \u00e0 destination des PC fixes, des PC portables et des serveurs. L’objectif : alimenter l’essentiel du parc informatique des minist\u00e8res de la sant\u00e9, de l’\u00e9ducation et des sciences, d’ici 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le co\u00fbt du projet serait estim\u00e9 \u00e0 30 milliards de roubles, soit 340 millions d’euros. Rostec pr\u00e9voit d’\u00e9quiper \u00e0 cette date 60 000 syst\u00e8mes avec ses propres solutions, qui s’articuleraient autour de CPU \u00e0 8 coeurs RISC-V, cadenc\u00e9s \u00e0 2 GHz et grav\u00e9s en 12 nm. On ne connait pas encore le nom du fondeur qui serait impliqu\u00e9 dans le processus, mais tout pr\u00eate \u00e0 croire que GlobalFoundries, d\u00e9sormais un peu en d\u00e9calage par rapport aux noeuds de pointe, serait un candidat tout trouv\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syntacore a d\u00e9j\u00e0 travaill\u00e9 sur des designs autour de l’architecture RISC-V, et on s’orienterait vraisemblablement vers le d\u00e9ploiement d’une telle solution autour d’une distribution Linux d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en parall\u00e8le. Canonical, l’\u00e9diteur d’Ubuntu, a r\u00e9cemment confirm\u00e9 que son syst\u00e8me supporte l’architecture RISC-V d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par SiFive. En ciblant un parc de 60 000 machines, on peut imaginer que de tels syst\u00e8mes soutiendraient essentiellement des usages bureautiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outre le projet du MCST autour de CPU Elbrus, pour des usages plus proches de ceux des CPU x86\/x64 avec de hautes performances \u00e0 32 c\u0153urs, la Russie planche \u00e9galement sur un processeur autour des architectures ARM et MIPS, les Baikal<\/a> d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s par l’entreprise du m\u00eame nom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
