\u00c0 l\u2019occasion de l\u2019Intel Architecture Days 2021, Intel a d\u00e9taill\u00e9 ses CPU Alder Lake et Sapphire Rappids<\/a>, mais \u00e9galement deux GPU\u00a0: Alchemist, les premi\u00e8res solutions Xe HPG (high performance gaming<\/em>) de la gamme Intel Arc<\/a>, et Ponte Vecchio, bas\u00e9 pour sa part sur l\u2019architecture Xe HPC (high perfomance computing<\/em>) et destin\u00e9 au secteur du m\u00eame nom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Premi\u00e8re information et non des moindres : les GPU Alchemist seront grav\u00e9s en 6 nm par TSMC, soit sur un n\u0153ud plus avanc\u00e9 que le N7 (7 nm) des GPU RDNA 2 d\u2019AMD. Le N6 fournit notamment une densit\u00e9 de transistors 18 % plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architecture Xe-HPG Alchemist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Penchons-nous d\u2019abord sur le GPU Alchemist. Il s\u2019arme de blocs de calcul indivisibles, baptis\u00e9s Xe-core, qui contiennent chacun 16 moteurs vectoriels de 256 bits et 16 moteurs matriciels de 1024 bits. \u00c0 ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments s\u2019ajoutent un cache L1 (taille non pr\u00e9cis\u00e9e) et une matrice de stockage. Intel associe quatre Xe-core au sein d\u2019un Render Slice<\/em>, agr\u00e9ment\u00e9 de quatre unit\u00e9s de ray tracing et d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments communs n\u00e9cessaires aux fonctionnalit\u00e9s DirectX 12 telles que des pipelines de g\u00e9om\u00e9trie et de rast\u00e9risation. La version de GPU Alchemist pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e ici embarque 8 Render Slices<\/em>. Puisqu\u2019il y a 16 unit\u00e9s d\u2019ex\u00e9cution par Xe-core, cela donne 64 UE pour un Render Slice ; nous retrouvons donc bien les 512 UE maintes fois \u00e9voqu\u00e9es pour la meilleure des solutions DG2 (Alchemist d\u00e9sormais).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En outre, en partie gr\u00e2ce au n\u0153ud de gravure N6, Intel revendique une efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique 50 % sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle des solutions Xe LP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lors de l\u2019officialisation de sa marque de cartes graphiques d\u00e9di\u00e9es Intel Arc, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 s\u2019\u00e9tait born\u00e9e \u00e0 annoncer une compatibilit\u00e9 avec DirectX 12 Ultimate pour ses GPU Alchemist et mentionn\u00e9 une technologie de sur-\u00e9chantillonnage IA dans la lign\u00e9e du DLSS ; nous connaissons d\u00e9sormais son appellation : XeSS pour Xe Super Sampling. Les d\u00e9veloppeurs auront acc\u00e8s au SDK du XeSS d\u2019ici la fin du mois. Quant aux cartes graphiques Alchemist, elles arriveront au cours du premier trimestre 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architecture Xe-HPC Ponte Vecchio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Comme Raja Koduri l\u2019avait affirm\u00e9, Ponte Vecchio comprend plus de 100 milliards de transistors et 47 Tiles<\/a>. Il est fabriqu\u00e9e sur cinq n\u0153uds de gravure diff\u00e9rents dont le N5 de TSMC pour les tiles<\/em> de calcul, reli\u00e9es \u00e0 la “tile base”<\/em> gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Intel Foveros<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le GPU HPC Xe reprend partage certaines similitudes avec le GPU Alchemist, notamment les blocs de calcul Xe-core avec huit moteurs vectoriels et huit moteurs matriciels, ainsi qu\u2019une unit\u00e9 mat\u00e9rielle de lancer de rayon. Cependant, les moteurs utilisent des registres de 512 bits et 4096 bits respectivement. La taille de cache L1 est de 512 Ko. En outre, le Xe-HPC prend en charge les donn\u00e9es au format TF32 utilis\u00e9es pour l\u2019apprentissage automatique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses huit moteurs vectoriels, un seul Xe-core peut effectuer 256 op\u00e9rations FP64 \/ FP32 par cycle ou 512 op\u00e9rations FP16 par cycle ; les moteurs matriciels offrent 4096 op\u00e9rations FP16 ou BF16 par cycle, 8192 op\u00e9rations INT8 par cycle, ou 2048 op\u00e9rations TF32 par cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

128 Xe-Core<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Vous vous en doutez, un slice<\/em> ne poss\u00e8de pas un seul Xe-core ; et pas non plus 8 comme le GPU MXM Alchemist, mais carr\u00e9ment 16. Le GPU Ponte Vecchio s\u2019arme de 4 slices<\/em> reli\u00e9es entre elles par un cache L2 de 144 Mo et une matrice m\u00e9moire, avec huit connecteurs Xe Link, quatre piles HBM2e et un moteur multim\u00e9dia. Mais Intel le proposera aussi dans une configuration \u00e0 deux piles reli\u00e9es entre elles par EMIB et qui double toutes ces valeurs. Enfin, il sera possible de faire travailler ensemble jusqu\u2019\u00e0 8 GPU interconnect\u00e9s par Xe Link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intel indique avoir un silicium A0 fonctionnel. Il d\u00e9livre pour l\u2019instant 45 TFLOPS FP32. La bande passante HBM2e affiche un d\u00e9bit de 5 To\/s tandis que les d\u00e9bit de connectivit\u00e9 fonctionne s’\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 plus de 2 To\/s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
