Le GENCI (Grand Equipement National de Calcul Intensif) et le CINES (Centre Informatique National de l\u2019Enseignement Sup\u00e9rieur), ont annonc\u00e9 l\u2019acquisition du supercalculateur Adastra. Ce dernier s\u2019appuie sur des processeurs AMD EPYC et des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs HPE Instinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le d\u00e9ploiement est pr\u00e9vu pour le printemps prochain. Adastra deviendra alors le supercalculateur le plus puissant d\u2019Europe \u00e0 destination de la recherche publique universitaire mais aussi industrielle. Il compl\u00e9tera les syst\u00e8mes existants de GENCI dans deux autres datacenters fran\u00e7ais. Concr\u00e8tement, Adastra offrira une capacit\u00e9 de calcul de plus de 70 PFlops\/s, “soit plus de vingt fois la puissance de calcul du syst\u00e8me actuel du CINES”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AMD officialise les EPYC Milan-X : jusqu\u2019\u00e0 768 Mo de cache L3 gr\u00e2ce au 3D V-Cache<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deux partitions de calcul, l’une avec des processeurs AMD EPYC Genoa, l’autre avec des EPYC Milan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Le communiqu\u00e9 d\u2019AMD pr\u00e9cise que ce supercalculateur Adastra repose “sur une architecture converg\u00e9e modulaire \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e via deux partitions de calcul, l\u2019une bas\u00e9e sur la nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de processeurs AMD EPYC avec 768 Go de m\u00e9moire et l\u2019autre profitant d\u2019un processeur AMD EPYC de troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration optimis\u00e9 et quatre acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs AMD Instinct MI250X OAM<\/a>“<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le communiqu\u00e9 du GENCI r\u00e9v\u00e8le que la partition 1 “comporte des n\u0153uds scalaires multic\u0153urs, chacun \u00e9tant bas\u00e9 sur des processeurs AMD EPYC de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, nom de code “Genoa”, avec 768 Go de m\u00e9moire DDR5 et une carte r\u00e9seau Slingshot 11 de 200 Gbps”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si les processeurs EPYC Genoa<\/a>, sous architecture CPU Zen 4, ne sont pas encore disponibles, ils le seront l\u2019ann\u00e9e prochaine. R\u00e9cemment, AMD a confirm\u00e9 qu\u2019ils offriraient jusqu\u2019\u00e0 96 c\u0153urs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concernant la partition 2, le GENCI pr\u00e9cise qu’elle “comporte des n\u0153uds hybrides, chacun \u00e9tant \u00e9quip\u00e9 d’un processeur AMD EPYC de 3e g\u00e9n\u00e9ration optimis\u00e9 avec 256 Go de m\u00e9moire DDR4 et quatre acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs OAM AMD Instinct MI250X, chacun avec 128 Go HBM2e, pour un total de 512 Go de m\u00e9moire GPU, et quatre NIC Slingshot 11 \u00e0 200 Gbps”<\/em>. Les processeurs EPYC de 3e g\u00e9n\u00e9ration sont les EPYC 7003, nom de code Milan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Par ailleurs, en mati\u00e8re de refroidissement, AMD rapporte que “la solution fournie par HPE compte parmi les plus efficaces, refroidissant 97 % de la chaleur g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par la machine gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de watercooling”.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La mise en service de la partition acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9e (GPU) est pr\u00e9vue pour le printemps 2022 ; la mise en service de la partition scalaire (CPU) est pr\u00e9vue pour la fin 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
