AMD a lanc\u00e9 sa Radeon RX 6500 XT<\/a> hier, et les stocks ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s rapidement \u00e9coul\u00e9s. Une situation assez pr\u00e9visible dans le contexte actuel o\u00f9 beaucoup de clients d\u00e9sirent co\u00fbte que co\u00fbte acqu\u00e9rir une carte graphique, peu importe ses d\u00e9fauts ; cela tombe bien, la nouvelle solution d\u2019entr\u00e9e de gamme d\u2019AMD n\u2019en manque pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selon les mesures effectu\u00e9es par notre confr\u00e8re Jarred Walton de Tom\u2019s Hardware US en Full HD, la d\u00e9finition cible de cette r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, la Radeon RX 6500 XT affiche des performances grosso modo \u00e9quivalentes \u00e0 celles d\u2019une GTX 1650 Super et d\u2019une Radeon RX 5500 XT 4 Go. Autrement dit, si l\u2019on reste born\u00e9 au catalogue d\u2019AMD, il n\u2019y quasiment aucune am\u00e9lioration g\u00e9n\u00e9rationnelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oubliez le ray tracing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Certes, dans son communiqu\u00e9 de presse, AMD pr\u00e9sente la RX 6500 XT comme “la premi\u00e8re carte graphique grand public \u00e9quip\u00e9e du DXR raytracing<\/em>“. Cette assertion est vraie, la GeForce RTX 3050<\/a> n’arrivant que dans quelques jours (le 27 janvier). Seulement avec 16 ray accelerators<\/em>, les prestations en ray tracing sont insuffisantes, comme vous le constaterez avec les mesures prises par Jarred Walton dans quelques titres en Full HD. Pour la comparaison, rappelons que la Radeon RX 6600<\/a> poss\u00e8de 28 ray accelerators<\/em> ; \u00e0 l\u2019autre bout de la gamme, la Radeon RX 6900 XT en a 80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De fait, le ray tracing ne repr\u00e9sente probablement pas un crit\u00e8re pr\u00e9pond\u00e9rant pour la majorit\u00e9 des joueurs. Ce qui est nettement plus probl\u00e9matique avec la Radeon RX 6500 XT, c\u2019est son interface (PCIe 4.0 x4) et sa quantit\u00e9 de VRAM (4 Go sur un bus de 64 bits). Vous allez comprendre pourquoi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Au niveau de la Radeon RX 5500 XT 4 Go sur 7 jeux…<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

En moyenne, sur les 7 jeux test\u00e9s par TH.US (Borderlands 3<\/em>, Far Cry 6<\/em>, Flight Simulator<\/em>, Forza Horizon 5<\/em>, Horizon Zero Dawn<\/em>, Red Dead Redemption 2<\/em>, Watch Dogs Legion<\/em>) en Full HD \/ Moyen, la Radeon RX 6500 XT est battue \u00e0 la fois par les Radeon RX 5500 XT 4 Go (de peu, mais battue) et 8 Go (ces deux solutions profitent du PCIe 4.0 x8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si vous poussez les r\u00e9glages en Ultra, logiquement plus susceptibles de saturer les 4 Go de VRAM ainsi que la connexion PCIe, la RX 6500 XT se fait laminer par la RX 5500 XT 8 Go. Avec 46,5 IPS en moyenne, celle-ci d\u00e9livre quasiment 10 images par seconde en plus que sa “successeure” (37,2 IPS). Ramen\u00e9 en pourcentage, l\u2019\u00e9cart entre les deux r\u00e9f\u00e9rences est non n\u00e9gligeable puisqu\u2019il s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 25 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est pire en PCIe 3.0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finissons d\u2019enfoncer le clou. En principe, la RX 6500 XT est une carte graphique d\u2019entr\u00e9e de gamme et ne se destine donc pas exclusivement \u00e0 des PC dot\u00e9s des derni\u00e8res technologies. On peut ainsi envisager que des utilisateurs pr\u00e9voient de l\u2019installer sur un ordinateur fixe \u00e9quip\u00e9 d\u2019une carte m\u00e8re en PCIe 3.0. H\u00e9las pour eux, ce mariage ne serait pas du go\u00fbt de la Radeon : comparativement avec une machine b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiant d’une connexion PCIe 4.0, ils auraient en moyenne une perte de 6,3 IPS sur les 7 jeux susmentionn\u00e9s en Full HD \/ Moyen, de 8,4 IPS en Full HD \/ Ultra. Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne \u00e9pargne la GTX 1650 Super qui utilise une interface PCIe 3.0 x16 (bus m\u00e9moire de 128 bits, bande passante de 192 Go\/s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

R\u00e9sumons. Ray tracing mis \u00e0 part, qui est de toute fa\u00e7on inop\u00e9rant avec une telle carte au vu des performances, la RX 6500 XT est tr\u00e8s proche de la Radeon RX 5500 XT 4 Go, inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 la Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 Go ; elle n\u2019appr\u00e9cie que l\u2019interface PCIe 4.0 et boude ainsi les vieux PC, faisant d\u2019elle un mauvais choix pour une mise \u00e0 niveau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vous l\u2019aurez compris, \u00e0 moins d\u2019avoir 400 euros \u00e0 perdre et\/ou absolument besoin d\u2019une carte graphique, cette Radeon RX 6500 XT n\u2019est pas du tout recommandable. Et ce, y compris pour un usage multim\u00e9dia en raison de certaines lacunes (pas de d\u00e9codage AV1 ni d\u2019encodage H264\/265). Il faudrait se pencher plus en d\u00e9tail sur les consommations pour voir si la carte se rattrape sur ce point (elle a un TBP de 107 W contre 130 W pour la RX 5500 XT). Malgr\u00e9 tout, m\u00eame un app\u00e9tit mesur\u00e9 ne ferait pas oublier ses autres d\u00e9fauts. Alors que la Radeon RX 6600 \u00e9tait une franche r\u00e9ussite, cette Radeon RX 6500 XT est donc tr\u00e8s d\u00e9cevante.
