AMD a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ses processeurs EPYC Milan-X dot\u00e9s de 3D V-Cache<\/a> en novembre dernier. Cette s\u00e9rie comprend l\u2019EPYC 7773X, un 64 c\u0153urs \/ 128 threads qui poss\u00e8de 768 Mo de cache L3. Un vid\u00e9o blogueur chinois, Kenaide, a mis la main sur une paire de ces processeurs, toujours r\u00e9serv\u00e9s \u00e0 quelques partenaires cibl\u00e9s d\u2019AMD. Il a ainsi pu les tester mais \u00e9galement les overclocker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 l\u2019origine, l\u2019EPYC 7773X a une fr\u00e9quence de base de 2,2 GHz et une fr\u00e9quence Boost de 3,5 GHz. Les \u00e9chantillons techniques d\u00e9tenus par Kenaide sont tr\u00e8s l\u00e9g\u00e8rement moins v\u00e9loces : 2,1 GHz et 3,4 GHz respectivement. Il est toutefois parvenu \u00e0 les overclocker \u00e0 4,8 GHz. Cela repr\u00e9sente une hausse de 41 % de la fr\u00e9quence Boost. Comme indiqu\u00e9 dans le premier paragraphe, l\u2019atout principal des EPYC Milan-X par rapport aux EPYC Milan est leur quantit\u00e9 de cache l3 tripl\u00e9e. Le mod\u00e8le 64 c\u0153urs poss\u00e8de 256 Mo de cache L3 auxquels s\u2019ajoutent 512 Mo issus du 3D V-Cache. Ajoutez \u00e0 cela 32 Mo de cache L2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vous l\u2019imaginez, cette grosse quantit\u00e9 de m\u00e9moire vise \u00e0 offrir des performances optimales dans des applications exigeantes en la mati\u00e8re. Par cons\u00e9quent, la paire d\u2019EPYC 7773X ne s\u2019illustre pas vraiment dans les tests r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par Kenaide (Cinebench R23) : elle se positionne en deuxi\u00e8me position en multic\u0153urs, \u00e0 l\u2019avant-derni\u00e8re place en mono-c\u0153ur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concernant l\u2019overclocking, Kenaide a install\u00e9 ses processeurs sur une carte m\u00e8re personnalis\u00e9e, con\u00e7ue pour les centres de donn\u00e9es hyperscale et dot\u00e9e d’un module de r\u00e9gulation de tension am\u00e9lior\u00e9. Il a augment\u00e9 la limite de puissance \u00e0 1500 W au lieu de 280 W via l’utilitaire d’overclocking AMD EPYC et d\u00e9fini une tension de 1,55V. Un simple refroidissement par air a suffi \u00e0 maintenir les processeurs au frais. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9vidence, l\u2019EPYC 7773X propose donc un bon potentiel d\u2019overclocking susceptible d\u2019int\u00e9resser quelques entreprises. Reste que dans la plupart des cas, ces puces finiront group\u00e9es au sein de supercalculateurs o\u00f9 les consid\u00e9rations relatives \u00e0 la consommation et aux temp\u00e9ratures primeront sur les fr\u00e9quences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
