Samsung Electronics propose d\u00e9sormais de la DRAM LPDDR5X capable d\u2019atteindre une vitesse de fonctionnement de 8,5 Gbit\/s. L\u2019entreprise cor\u00e9enne pr\u00e9cise que cette m\u00e9moire a \u00e9t\u00e9 valid\u00e9e sur des smartphones bas\u00e9s sur les plateformes mobiles Snapdragon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette DRAM LPDDR5X \u00e0 8,5 Gbit\/s propose la vitesse la plus rapide du secteur. Elle am\u00e9liore les anciens d\u00e9bits, lesquels plafonnaient \u00e0 7,5 Gbit\/s. Comme le souligne Samsung, “gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses caract\u00e9ristiques de faible consommation et de haute performance, la DRAM LPDDR devient rapidement omnipr\u00e9sente dans les syst\u00e8mes informatiques modernes, d\u00e9passant le cadre des smartphones pour s’\u00e9tendre aux PC, au calcul haute performance (HPC), aux serveurs et aux automobiles, o\u00f9 elle a connu une forte croissance ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e9ploy\u00e9e sur de plus en plus de march\u00e9s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 rapporte ainsi que la DRAM LPDDR a fait l’objet d’une demande particuli\u00e8rement forte sur le march\u00e9 des PC, “o\u00f9 sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 combiner hautes performances et faible consommation d’\u00e9nergie dans un petit facteur de forme aide les fabricants de PC \u00e0 construire des ordinateurs portables plus petits, plus l\u00e9gers et plus puissants”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans le secteur automobile, la m\u00e9moire LPDDR est \u00e9galement un composant de plus en plus important dans les v\u00e9hicules modernes. En raison de la forte quantit\u00e9 de donn\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par les fonctions de conduite autonome, une m\u00e9moire \u00e0 large bande passante est n\u00e9cessaire pour les traiter rapidement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfin, du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des centres de donn\u00e9es et les serveurs p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques, “les caract\u00e9ristiques de faible consommation de la DRAM LPDDR peuvent aider \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les niveaux de consommation d’\u00e9nergie, ce qui se traduit par une am\u00e9lioration du co\u00fbt total de possession (TCO) pour les gestionnaires de centres de donn\u00e9es, tout en r\u00e9duisant la chaleur et les \u00e9missions de carbone pour finalement r\u00e9duire leur impact sur le changement climatique”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samsung s\u2019attend aussi \u00e0 ce que la DRAM LPDDR s\u2019\u00e9tende \u00e0 d\u2019autres march\u00e9s \u00e9mergents port\u00e9s par l’intelligence artificielle (IA) et le metaverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniel Lee, Vice-pr\u00e9sident ex\u00e9cutif de l’\u00e9quipe de planification des produits de m\u00e9moire chez Samsung Electronics, d\u00e9clare\u00a0: “La validation conjointe de la DRAM LPDDR5X \u00e0 8,5 Gbit\/s nous a permis d’acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer de plus d’un an la disponibilit\u00e9 de cette interface m\u00e9moire \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit sur le march\u00e9, ce qui constitue un formidable accomplissement rendu possible par notre collaboration de longue date avec Qualcomm Technologies. Alors que la m\u00e9moire LPDDR continue d’\u00e9largir son utilisation au-del\u00e0 des smartphones pour s’\u00e9tendre aux applications d’IA et de centres de donn\u00e9es, une collaboration solide entre les fournisseurs de m\u00e9moire et de SoC devient de plus en plus importante.
