Qualcomm se lance \u00e9galement dans les technologies de mise \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle avec le GSR, pour Snapdragon Game Super Resolution<\/em>. \u00c0 l\u2019instar de ce que proposent AMD, NVIDIA et Intel sur PC, avec le FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution<\/em>), DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling<\/em>) et XeSS (Xe Super Sampling<\/em>), le GSR sert \u00e0 booster les performances. Dans le cas des smartphones, comme dans celui des PC portables, l’int\u00e9r\u00eat est aussi d’accro\u00eetre l\u2019autonomie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans son communiqu\u00e9, Qualcomm explique qu\u2019il existe aujourd’hui de nombreuses techniques qui permettent de passer d’une r\u00e9solution inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 une r\u00e9solution sup\u00e9rieure dans les jeux afin d’am\u00e9liorer les performances et d’\u00e9conomiser de l’\u00e9nergie. Seulement d’apr\u00e8s la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, les techniques d’upscaling \u00ab les plus courantes \u00bb sont bas\u00e9es sur l’interpolation bilin\u00e9aire (bilerp) et sont susceptibles de compromettre \u00ab la qualit\u00e9 graphique en rendant les contours et les d\u00e9tails flous \u00bb. L’annonce expose aussi qu’il y a bien \u00ab d’autres techniques temporelles actuellement disponibles sur le march\u00e9 [qui] am\u00e9liorent la qualit\u00e9, mais [que ces derni\u00e8res] n\u00e9cessitent des ressources qui ne sont pas courantes dans les pipelines de rendu mobiles actuels \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n

Un passage unique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La particularit\u00e9 du GSR est d\u2019effectuer une mise \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle avec un passage unique au lieu d’au moins deux pour d’autres techniques (le FSR 1.0 par exemple). Pour y parvenir, l\u2019upscaler utilise le moins possible de registres, d’\u00e9chantillons de texture et d’instructions de l’unit\u00e9 arithm\u00e9tique et logique (ALU). Le communiqu\u00e9 stipule ainsi : \u00ab Snapdragon GSR utilise moins d’instructions ALU et d’\u00e9chantillons de texture que ses concurrents, ce qui se traduit par une bien meilleure utilisation du processeur de shaders et donc une r\u00e9duction des temps de trame et de la consommation d’\u00e9nergie \u00bb. En outre, le passage unique facilite le recours \u00e0 d\u2019autres proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de post-traitement, telles que le tone mapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concr\u00e8tement, le GSR effectue des calculs de la luminance sur le canal vert uniquement, couleur \u00e0 laquelle la vision humaine est la plus sensible. Qualcomm pr\u00e9cise : \u00ab Le GSR utilise une fen\u00eatre \u00e0 12 kernels o\u00f9 le calcul de la luminance est effectu\u00e9 uniquement avec le canal vert (G), puisque l’\u0153il humain est le plus sensible \u00e0 cette couleur. Ainsi, les \u00e9chantillons Snapdragon GSR n’utilisent qu’une composante pour chaque calcul de pixel et effectuent une interpolation \u00e0 trois composantes, pour un total de seulement 15 instructions de texture. Les GPU Adreno peuvent enti\u00e8rement masquer la latence de ces \u00e9chantillons de texture, ce qui permet une utilisation \u00e0 100 % du processeur de shaders \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n

Compatibilit\u00e9 et jeux<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Qualcomm stipule que son Snapdragon Game Super Resolution<\/em> fonctionne avec la plupart des GPU, mais qu’il \u00ab offre les meilleures performances sur les plateformes Snapdragon \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les premiers jeux mobiles prenant en charge le Snapdragon Game Super Resolution<\/em> arriveront dans le courant de l’ann\u00e9e. Le communiqu\u00e9 comprend les d\u00e9claration des six d\u00e9veloppeurs des jeux list\u00e9s ci-dessous ; nous supposons donc que les titres en question seront les premiers \u00e0 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier du GSR : Solid State Studio d’Activision (Call of Duty : Warzone Mobile), Tianzhiyou de Perfect World (Jade Dynasty), TiMi de Tencent (Return to Empire), Thunderfire Studio de NetEase (Justice Mobile), 24 Entertainment de NetEase (Naraka : Bladepoint Mobile) et GIANTS Software (Farming Simulator 23 Mobile).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
