Depuis plusieurs mois, AMD a rapport\u00e9 avoir optimis\u00e9 la consommation de ses cartes graphiques Radeon RX 6000 (RDNA 2) et Radeon RX 7000 (RDNA 3)<\/strong> \u00e0 plusieurs reprises. Un premier correctif avait \u00e9t\u00e9 appliqu\u00e9 en d\u00e9cembre 2022 via le biais du pilote Adrenalin Edition 22.12.2<\/a>. Plus r\u00e9cemment, en juillet, AMD a publi\u00e9 un pilote 23.7.1 version b\u00eata suppos\u00e9 r\u00e9gler les probl\u00e8mes dans des d\u00e9finitions \u00e9lev\u00e9es en multi-\u00e9cran<\/a>. Finalement, le pilote WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Lab<\/em>s) suivant \u2013 le dernier en date \u2013, l\u2019Adrenalin 23.7.2, mentionne toujours des soucis de consommation parmi les probl\u00e8mes identifi\u00e9s<\/a> et “en attente de r\u00e9solution”. Une seule certitude : avec le VRR (Variable Refresh Rate<\/em>), les Radeon RX 6000 et RX 7000 consomment beaucoup moins en idle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

C\u2019est ce qu\u2019ont d\u00e9couvert nos confr\u00e8res de ComputerBase. Ils ont compar\u00e9 la consommation de plusieurs cartes graphiques, dont les Radeon RX 6800 XT, Radeon RX 7900 XTX<\/a>, (mais aussi GeForce RTX 4080<\/a> et Intel Arc A770), dans diff\u00e9rents sc\u00e9narios, sur un \u00e9cran 144 Hz avec le VRR activ\u00e9 en 2160p (3840 \u00d7 2160 pixels).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une d\u00e9couverte fortuite avec le nouvel \u00e9cran VRR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pour remettre ce test dans leur contexte, l\u2019auteur explique que la r\u00e9daction a r\u00e9cemment adopt\u00e9 un nouvel \u00e9cran, un mod\u00e8le UHD 144 Hz compatible Adaptive Sync. \u00c9trangement, l’activation du VRR a une tr\u00e8s forte incidence sur la consommation de la carte graphique sur le bureau Windows : 20 watts mesur\u00e9s pour la RX 7900 XTX, contre 104 watts lors de premi\u00e8res mesures, ou lorsque le VRR est d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9 dans le pilote graphique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019article indique que le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne s\u2019est r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9 avec un autre \u00e9cran VRR. L\u2019auteur rapporte qu\u2019il ignore la raison pour laquelle l’Adaptive Sync activ\u00e9 au niveau du pilote AMD fait baisser la consommation sur le bureau Windows aussi fortement. Il a questionn\u00e9 AMD sur le sujet mais n’a pas encore re\u00e7u de r\u00e9ponse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De 104 W \u00e0 20 watts pour la RX 7900 XTX <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Les tests comparent donc la consommation d’\u00e9nergie en mode veille, la consommation d’\u00e9nergie en mode double \u00e9cran, lors du d\u00e9placement de fen\u00eatres, avec YouTube SDR \u00e0 60 IPS et YouTube avec HDR \u00e0 60 IPS, le tout sur un moniteur 4K 144 Hz VRR. La Radeon RX 7900 XTX utilise jusqu\u2019\u00e0 81 % d’\u00e9nergie en moins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
